Three more years for Hylton

Noel Hylton has been reappointed chairman of the Port Authority of Jamaica. Other members of the 10-member board approved by Cabinet to serve for three years to June 26, 2014 are: Danville Walker, Charles Johnston, Kerry-Ann Tulloch, Corah-Ann Sylvester, Gregory Shirley, Ian Moore, Zachary Harding, Paul East and Dr Janine Dawkins.

JCC elects seven directors

The Jamaica Chamber of Commerce has announced changes to its board of directors, whose members were elected at a board meeting on June 21.

The seven are: Charles Brown, managing director of Christar Villas Hotel; Grace Burnett, managing director of Allied Insurance Brokers Limited; Oliver Chen, managing director of One Kick Battery Limited, Jacqueline Simmonds, manager in charge of marketing and energy services at the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited; Richard Pandohie, managing director of Carreras Limited; Renato Gonzales, managing director of Red Stripe Jamaica effective July 1; and Dennis Valdez, general manager of Newport-Fersan Jamaica Limited, a joint venture of Fertilizantes of Santa Dominigo and Jamaican entrepreneurs.

The chairman remains JCC president Milton Samuda.

JMA's new board

Brian Pengelley, sales director of Red Stripe, was elected unopposed as president of the Jamaica Manufacturers' Association at the June annual general meeting, replacing Omar Azan, the chief executive officer of Boss Furniture.

The JMA's board also comprises deputy president Metry Seaga, managing director of Jamaica Fibreglass Products Limited; treasurer Jodie Summerbell, managing director of Sweet Craft; and directors Raymond Miles, managing director of Sun Island; Vaughn Morris, director of Seals Sprayed Solutions; Errol Lewin, director of Foam and Accessories Limited; Radcliffe Murray, operations manager of Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited; Clement Lawrence, chief operating officer of the production division of J. Wray & Nephew; Norman Horne, chairman of Arc Systems Limited; Michelle Smith, managing director of Chocolate Dreams; and Steven Whittingham, chief executive officer of Island Ice.

Johnson is new TA chairman

Cabinet has approved a 13-member board for the Transport Authority, headed by chairman George Johnson.

Other directors include Saleem Lazarus, Sean Azan and Joel Williams, while the ex-officio members are the solicitor general, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Works, the commissioner of police, the chief technical director in the Ministry of Transport and Works, and the managing director of Transport Authority, or their respective nominees.

The co-opted appointees are: Heather Little-White-Watson, Winston Maragh, a representative from the Inland Revenue Department, and a representative from the Island Traffic Authority.
