Patrick Atkinson's mother dies in hospital
WEEKS AFTER People's National Party attorney at the Manatt-Dudus commission of enquiry, K.D. Knight, lost his mother, a fellow Comrade Patrick Atkinson, has met a similar fate.
Atkinson's 100 year-old-mother, Jasmine Atkinson, died at hospital last Wednesday after complaining of chest pains.
"I am thankful that she had a good long life," Atkinson said. "She really had a very healthy and strong life."
"I was with her just about couple hours before she died in the hospital...you don't lose any relative like when you lose a mother. It is figuratively and literally a part of you that dies," Atkinson said.
Knight's mother, Phyllis Brown, 91, died last month.
Atkinson yesterday described his mother as a dedicated educator. He said among her students was tourism minister Edmund Bartlett who she taught at the George's Plain Primary School in Westmoreland. She has also taught at Labyrinth in St Mary, Vaz Prep and Ardenne Prep.
Jasmine Atkinson is the grand aunt of Miss Jamaica World Yendi Phillipps. She is to be buried next Friday.
