PNP tour snarls north coast traffic

Massive traffic congestion characterised the People's National Party's (PNP) stop in St Ann's Bay, St Ann, yesterday as the Opposition's islandwide tour reached Jamaica's north coast.
The police were kept busy as both Windsor Road in the town and the AGR Byfield Highway (the bypass road) crawled with traffic even after the majority of the tour party had left for another stop in Discovery Bay before heading to Trelawny.
The tour had reached St Ann after spot meetings in Annotto Bay, Port Maria and Oracabessa in St Mary, after leaving Portmore, St Catherine yesterday morning.
The scene in St Ann's Bay took on the air of a campaign tour with PNP supporters coming out in their numbers, several in the party's traditional orange, to show loyalty.
supporters upset
Some enthusiastic supporters, upset at not being able to join the motorcade at St Ann's Bay and travel to Trelawny, made their feelings known.
But caretaker for North East St Ann Paul Stewart said the St Ann leg of the tour was going well, up to that point.
After last night's meeting in Falmouth, the tour is scheduled to stop in Sam Sharpe Square, Montego Bay for an 8:30 spot meeting before moving through several western parishes, ending with a mass meeting in Mandeville, set to begin at 6 p.m.
