Banned items for Grand Gala
THE POLICE are advising patrons attending the staging of the 49th Independence Grand Gala at the National Stadium today that no offensive weapons and other specified items will be allowed inside the venue.
Topping the list of prohibited items are: firearms, knives, fireworks, drugs, ice picks, machetes, flagpoles (over 12 inches), alcohol, umbrellas (walking stick type), large igloos (exceeding 14" in length, 12" in width and 8" in height), lighters, glass bottles and any other items that can be used to cause serious harm or injury.
All persons entering the stadium will be subject to search.
Meanwhile, the police will be instituting road closures today to ensure the easy flow of traffic for the staging of the Independence Grand Gala at the National Stadium.
Before the event the following roads will be operated as one-way:
Arthur Wint Drive from Tom Redcam Drive to the National Stadium.
Upper section of Arthur Wint Drive from Mountain View Avenue to access the general car park located along Arthur Wint Drive.
After the event the following roads will be used as one-way after the event:
Arthur Wint Drive, from the Stadium to Tom Redcam Drive.
Roosevelt Avenue from the Stadium to Stanton Terrace
Lathan Avenue from Roosevelt Avenue to Old Hope Road.
