The winners of the Super Plus Under-40 Artist of the Year competition 2011 are O'Neil Lawrence (jury prize) and Duane Bennett (public prize).

Lawrence's entry dealt with his personal struggles to achieve self actualisation and, by extension, the struggles that other Jamaican men face in creating and realising their own various identities. He copped the jury prize of $100,000 and a solo exhibition in the coming year.

The public prize of $50,000 went to Duane Bennett, whose work showed that 'One man's garbage is another man's treasure', incorporating the use of bubble gum (chewing gum) in his designs.

The Super Plus Under-40 Artist of the Year competition is in its 11th year. Wayne Chen, the main sponsor of the competition, congratulated the two artists who emerged winners and had words of praise for all the participants. He said many winners of this competition go on to become recognised artists, building careers in the field of art.
