Make JDIP audit public, says Davies
Dr Omar Davies, the opposition spokesman on transport and works, has called for the audit of the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP) to be made public.
"I have been formally informed by the auditor general that the audit has been completed and the report submitted to the Speaker for tabling at the earliest possible time," Davies said in a media release on Thursday.
"It is unfortunate that this approach has had to be taken to obtain basic information about the largest capital project being undertaken by the GOJ. I have no doubt that the audit will provide several startling revelations about the misuse of public funds on the project."
Opposition MPs Davies and Robert Pickersgill had asked Auditor General Pamela Monroe Ellis to conduct an audit of the JDIP.
Davies has called for the House to sit next Tuesday to take the audit, as well as several outstanding matters on the Order Paper.
The House of Representatives has been meeting infrequently over the past two months.
