I can recall

I can recall

The first time we met

You said I wouldn't regret

That everything was set

That I didn't have to fret

But you were not ready as yet

But soon

I can recall

The first thing you said was 'hi'

And you looked me straight in the eye

And I felt the love birds fly

The warmth of your space was a natural high

And I thought you would stick by

But soon

I can recall

Everything coming from deep within

As I was feeling my head spin

When your smile turned to a grin

Giving me hope that both my feet were in

That love, strong love was coming

But soon

I can recall

Everything seemed in place

There was really no haste

Though we had no time to waste

As we will soon occupy each other's space

For I couldn't take my eyes off your face

But soon

Soon everything got blurry

You moved off in a hurry

The love birds left in a flurry

Left me not knowing if I should worry

Lost in what I recalled made me sorry

And soon

Everything was blank.

True happiness comes from within

Don't be depressed by life's filthy mess

It has nothing to offer you but stress

Think about it, take a deep breath

How does stress get you out of life's mess?

Don't be vexed by the simplicity of my text

It has nothing to do with anything and something to do with everything

Rest a while, my child, before you become vile

Put away your cell phone computer

avoid the world for a while

Take time to think about your next climb

And remember you are worth more than a dime.

Today

A new day dawns within my world

With olden pains anew unfurled

Screaming silently the tale

Of all the times I try and fail

The man who I must prove to be

The one the world expects of me

Languishes exiled in my mind

Trapped in space and stolen time

Time that ticks so slowly by

Yet how quickly it does fly

Now it ebbs just like the sea

A brief respite; I think I'm free

Then, ere long I hear it say

'Victory comes but for a day'

Soon the monster will awake

Oh what, I ask, must it take?

Tears? But I've cried much of these

Prayers? So long I've skinned my knees

If I must wait then let it be

Not in vain but set me free

To learn at last that change is real

No matter how today may feel

For today is soon to pass

And you said sorrows will not last

So help me trust in you my Lord

In whose hands lie my reward

And grant me strength along this way

To make it over this hill called today.

Concrete in the jungle

I am a rock thrown against the wall

hated, baited, eaten

But will not be digested

To be dumped as a wasted woman, I will bounce back stronger, more determined to face my accusers

I will stand

to rise above the odds, swim against the tide with my head held high

for my God says I am more than a conqueror, I cannot be condemned

because I seek the spirit to to fight the flesh

I know how to live among weeds and thorns, I thrive in the rain and grow in the storm

I will smile in the face of my haters, feeding them the soup of kindness and the drink of grace

knowing that they cannot penetrate my heart with their evil darts

for I am concrete in the jungle.

Forgiveness

There's much difficulty

in believing the words you utter

because you're the greatest pretender I've met thus far

I'm not building a wall

to close you out

you are the one who has hardened my heart

to block the flow of love

my heart can now do only one thing

it's supplying my fragile body with blood

The wounds you have inflicted

Are now in the process of healing

But I know not how to forgive you

To me, forgiveness has no meaning.

A song of love

We need a song of love for each and every one

a simple song that all nations can sing along

One man could compose and sing this easy song

but it would be better if we all sing it together

So help me to write a melodious song of love

And make the words come from within our hearts

Let all interested singers play an active part

And may the end be as pleasant as the start

In every land and sea across the earth

sing stanzas of love and let your voices be heard

May every one of us act in harmony with our song

and promote peace and love among our fellow men

Why spend on war when love doesn't cost a cent?

If we adjust our thinking to love we will prosper

Rid our minds of envy, strife, and evil intent

An equal man, our brother, we just can't ignore.

Cry Syria

Cry Syria, cry

The cruel Basshar Assad

Has crushed

Your sons and daughters

Cry Syria, cry

The miserable Assad

Has murdered

Your sons and daughters

Cry Syria, Cry

The sad

Basshar al-Assad

Has slain your children

Cry Syria, cry

The keeper of your house

Keeps slaughtering your children

And your young people

Cry Syria, cry, Basshar al-Assad

Has made your land

A graveyard for democracy.
