Women Business Owners Jamaica Limited has kicked off the second round of training for women under the Strengthening & Promoting Women Entrepreneurs project funded by the Inter-American Development Bank.

Last year, the project accommodated 148 women in the first phase.

The lobby group's programmes continue even with the change of administration on December 5 last year. Other 2012 board members are founding president Lorna Green, Shirley Carby, Lana Francis, Blossom O'Meally-Nelson, Rita Humphries-Lewin, Sandra Bramwell, Gale Peart and Marcia Woon-Choy.

McIntyre takes over FCIB Cayman

Career banker Mark McIntyre has replaced Tom Crawford as managing director of CIBC FirstCaribbean country operations in the Cayman Islands.

McIntyre's appointment took effect Tuesday, January 17.

Crawford, who retires in June, will assist with the transition and retains his portfolio as vice-chairman of the bank with responsibility for special projects within the offices of the executive chairman and chief executive officer, CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank said.

"Many people within CIBC FirstCaribbean will remember Mark from an earlier stint with the bank after the merger of the Caribbean operations of CIBC and Barclays Bank," CIBC FirstCaribbean group CEO Rik Parkhill in a company-issued statement.

"He brings to the table excellent skills as a negotiator and problem-solver, who is experienced in the delivery of exceptional customer service in a very demanding environment."

McIntyre has been a banker since 1988.

"I was privileged to be part of the team when the bank was formed, and even after leaving I followed its progress with interest," he said.

"I am excited to be able to contribute to the future development of CIBC FirstCaribbean."

Imani quits JMMB

Imani Duncan-Price will be quitting her job as group marketing manager of Jamaica Money Market Brokers in the wake of her appointment as a Government senator.

Her resignation takes effect in four months on, May 12, allowing time for the recruitment of a replacement and to facilitate a smooth transition.

In a market filing this week, JMMB said it would continue to tap Duncan-Price's expertise through consultancies on specific projects as it continues rolling out its plan for regional expansion.
