Khary Robinson's Norbrook Caribbean Investment Company has created a holding company for its courier businesses acquired in the past two years.

The Package Company comprises eight subsidiaries that together deliver some 600,000 packages to 50,000 clients annually, said Robinson, 32, in a release.

He said the company has been signed by UPS as a delivery partner in Jamaica.

The Package Company's holdings include Mailpac Express and Global Courier in online shopping delivery; Airpak Express and Speed Courier in same-day islandwide delivery; Mailpac Ocean Freight in sea freight delivery, Supply Chain Solutions in inventory distribution and Airpak round-town service.

Two other acquisitions, Swoop and Zippy, were merged into Airpak.

The group "manages approximately 70 per cent of all personal air freight into Jamaica and 40 per cent of all delivery around the island," the release said.

Norbrook Caribbean's first investment was Mailpac.

"We approached Mailpac first because they were the most advanced service provider in the industry. The team there would be most receptive to the type of technology we wanted to introduce and would become a good example for all the companies we would acquire in the future," said Robinson.

He indicated that Norbrook Caribbean may eventually take one of the courier companies public.
