EXPO Jamaica 2012 booths sold out

All display spaces for the April staging of Expo Jamaica 2012 have already been sold out, show director Deryck Rose advised members of the organising committee recently.

JAMPRO export manager Berletta Forrester said 216 potential purchasers have already been registered and ongoing efforts would be made to match buyers with manufacturers in whose products they were interested but who would not be able to exhibit.

The increase in potential buyers was partially due to support from the local business community, including hotel chains, tourist attractions and supermarkets, a release quoted Forrester as saying.

Potential purchasers are expected from a range of countries including Ghana, Russia, Hungary, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, with regional support from Barbados, Bermuda, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Lucia and St. Vincent.

Cochairman of the organising committee, Paulette Rhoden, said the interest shown by both exhibitors and potential purchasers clearly demonstrated that Jamaican manufacturing was still very much alive.

Aswad Morgan, who is also co-chair, said the committee was keen on presenting a first class show of high international standards.

The Expo, described as Jamaicas premier trade show, is this year being presented under the theme, Brand Jamaica to the World.

Forrester said JAMPRO would be seeking to attract new investors as well as possible joint venture opportunities through the expo. To this end, special airfare and hotel rates have been organised to woo visiting buyers. Advanced business matching sessions are also being organised.

The expo will be staged at the National Arena in Kingston April 26 to 29. It will feature Buyers Days on April 26 and 27 when the show will be closed to the general public.
