50 we are
We were once young and struggling
A little country learning to survive on its own
Many struggles and challenges we endured
Even as we sought to be strong and be seen as mature
Years passed as diverse people grew
Together, we tried our hands at many things
Left indelible marks wherever we roamed
Traces of culture are seen to tell tales of home
End of slavery, independence strong heroes and heroine
All products of Jamaican soil or lineage
We have evolved into a great country of 50 years
Displaying our diverse talents and rich heritage
We celebrate our hardships and triumphs
Our music, athletes, scholars and beauties
Our special and unique identity is recognisable worldwide
Our passion for life and for people
Jamaica is 50 years and going strong
Our stalwarts, ambassadors, leaders and children
Our past, present and future aspects of this incredible journey
Are acknowledged today as we thank God for our nation

Who says?
Who says the grass is greener on the other side?
Who says when you have pride your head is bigger than your body?
Who says if you are rich you are happier?
Who say Ipswich town is smaller than Greenwich Town?
Who says only the queen wears the crown?
Who says you can see your fears on the ground?
Who says spring makes the leaves brighter?
Who says genuine leather is hard to find?
Who says lifeguards' lives are not at risk?
Who says if you walk briskly in the park it is not fun?
Who says when dark clouds cover the sun it is going to rain?
Who says a train goes faster than an airplane?
Who says a headmaster is always a male?
Who says if you fail you should give up?

Sunrise
There is glory in every sunrise
Angels singing in the glorious picture
Clouds of heaven and a breath of salvation in creation
Aesthetics
to the rebirth of the beginning of a new day
The tranquil of so early a morn
Glowing with the brightness of gold
Priceless is the sight to behold
Beyond the clouds, beyond the mountains lies awake a city of heavenly hosts
Hailing with such magnificent force
The beauty of the morn
