FALMOUTH, Trelawny:
The parish of Trelawny outlined its plans to mark Jamaica's 50th Independence anniversary during a press briefing at the Falmouth Town Hall on Monday.
The activities will include a fishermen's regatta, 'Ole Time Fair', Jamaica 50 library exhibition, and a road race.
The regatta is a boat race that will feature paddles instead of engines. It will be held on August 4 at the Falmouth Fishermen Beach. Come August 6, an 'Ole Time Fair' will be staged at the Falmouth Square, with activities such as donkey rides, a merry-go-round, candy making, face painting, tambu dancing, pick-a-pin, and sack race.

The Jamaica 50 exhibition was opened on Tuesday at the Trelawny Parish Library and will end on August 10. It will feature a history of the parish, including personal reflections and photographs.
