The sprawling lawns of Strathmore Great House in Manor Park came alive as ambassadors, dignitaries and socialites turned out in fine style to celebrate Europe Day.

On Wednesday, Head of the European Union Paola Amandei and her husband Jorge Garzon, welcomed guests to the peace and unity celebration that characterised the day.

The great white tents were lit with cool blue lights setting the tone of midsummer night's magnificence. The collaboration between both countries was reflected in the décor.

The Jamaican flag to the left, and the European flag to the right on the stage, also symbolise just what Europe day was all about-the cultural exchange between Europe and Jamaica which provides growth and expansion for both.

According to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade A.J. Nicholson, "Jamaica jealously guards our relation with the union and with the individual member states." He continued, "And we are not shy to highlight at any and every opportunity our appreciation for the sustained contribution which the European Union has made and continues to make to our development as a nation. Neither are we shy in proclaiming the contribution that we have made to the vibrancy of the way of life of our Europeans partners and accept that we can be assured of that appreciation in return."

Elated guest mingled over cocktails, with the soothing songs of reggae icon Bob Marley as the backdrop. Guests were able to delight their tastebuds with a variety of hors d'oeuvres prepared by award winning caterer, Susan Couch.

As the music switched to songs of yester year, a few adventurous feet ventured onto the dancefloor, while others enjoyed the company of friends as they celebrate the night.
