WESTERN BUREAU:Montego Bay-based wedding and events organisers Dionne Waugh and Jody-Marie Hussey staged their second Bridal Dreams Showcase Wedding Exposition at the Montego Bay Conference Centre on Sunday.
Scores of patrons travelled to the venue for the exposition, which had display booths showcasing wedding wear, cake designers, jewellers, as well as wedding and honeymoon organisers. Local musicians and photography companies were also in attendance. The event also featured a fashion show, a nearly-wed game show for engaged couples, and an Epicurean food showcase.
According to Waugh, the first event was staged in 2011 at the West Jamaica Conference Centre in Montego Bay, but both she and Hussey took a break in 2012 after becoming mothers.
It grew out of our experience as brides me and Jody-Marie Hussey planning our weddings in 2009, being busy and realising that we couldnt find everything we wanted in one place, which would have been very convenient for us, she said.
SEVERAL EVENTS
Sundays exposition was preceded by several other events, which included a worship service at Calvary Baptist Church, a counselling session at the University of the West Indies, Mona-Western Jamaica campus, a bachelorette party dubbed Little Black Dress at BlueBeat in Montego Bay, a bridal industry networking event, as well as a food event at the Falmouth pier in Trelawny.
Next year, we will continue to maintain our three showcase features, which are our seminar, the game show, and the fashion show, Waugh said. We will also continue to maintain the week of events as we have got a lot of positive responses from the events that we hosted.
