Glitzy Nirvana launch

Disco, strobe and stream lights illuminated the grandeur that was the Nirvana Magazine launch at a fashion mingle held at Fiction Lounge last Saturday. The glitz and glam that was experienced at the event was fitting for the 'inauguration' of the 'newcomer magazine' to the Caribbean Fashion circle.
Creative director and conceptulaiser of the magazine, Londie Murray, is no stranger to the camera. The experienced photographer decided to broaden his horizons and branch off into the entrepreneurial world of fashion. As his guests sipped complimentary wine courtesy of CPJ, he described the creative journey behind the magazine. He noted that the fist issue was, "The result of hard work, dedication, a strong team and the invaluable advice from several within the industry."
Nirvana is defined as a place or state characterised by freedom from or oblivion to pain or worry. That's exactly what Nirvana Magazine seeks to create - a place where readers can forget the numerous restraints of life and connect with all things fashionable.
Singer and songwriter Tessanne Chin graces the cover of the first issue. Chin beamed as she declared that she was "honoured, humbled and thankful for being on the cover".
The magazine is currently the in-flight magazine for Fly Jamaica Airlines (August/September) and they are also sponsoring the Miss Jamaica World winner, who will be on the cover and receive a spread in the August issue, as well as working with the magazine for a year.
Murray indicated that the magazine would provide a platform from which to showcase Caribbean fashion to the world in sleek formats with well-written pieces. His ultimate goal is to build a Caribbean fashion and lifestyle magazine brand, recognised around the world as brand Jamaica and brand Caribbean, becoming the 'Vogue Magazine' of Jamaica.
