This Saturday is all about pan chicken.

A competition laced with delicious goodness is set to invade the UDC car park in Portmore as the Eastern Regional finals of the CB Pan Chicken Championships gets cooking.

Twenty-six pan chicken men and women from the east will seek to secure their spot for the September 28 grand finals showdown scheduled for November. And the pans are ready.

The eastern finals will include contestants from Kingston and St Andrew, St Thomas, Portland, St Mary and St Catherine. Only 10 will be selected to advance to the finals. Along with a place at the finals, each parish winner will walk away with $30,000 in cash, and the runner-up $15,000 plus gift packages. One person will be awarded for Best Sauce in the Grace Tomato Ketchup 'Grace ketch di taste' sauce competition.

"We fired up the pans in June at our Central Regional elimination, which was a huge success despite the inclement weather. When we rolled into Montego Bay for the Western Regional the turnout surpassed our expectations," noted Alicia Bogues, brand manager of CB Chicken and Bad Dawg Sausages.

She continued, "Each year, the competition grows and the competitors always bring their A game, and serve up the most succulent, tasty pan chicken. We are particularly excited about this final leg since its our first staging in Portmore. As we come down to the wire, the energy is high, and competition is fierce."

But more than a cooking competition, the eastern elimination will serve up a day of exhilarating fun for the entire family, topped with dynamic entertainment and, of course, great food.

Starting at 10 a.m., patrons will be feted to non-stop giveaways, electrifying music and the national kiddies village with free rides all day, clowns, face painting, and much more. The afternoon concert, emceed by comedian Pretty Boy Floyd, promises to be energetic, with attendees jumping to RDX and gospel artiste Omari.
