Three appetising treats
During the Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week, the luxurious Saffron Indian restaurant located in the Market Place has a treat for you.
Among the special treats are their platter appetisers. These platters offer three appetisers, either vegetable or non-vegetable.
"This gives them the option of trying three items instead of one," explains proprietor Vivek Chatani while his chefs created their masterpieces.
The non-vegetable platter prepared by chef Praveen Singh includes three meats - the chicken malai tikka so tender it melts in your mouth, tandoori shrimps that have a hint of spice that everyone can appreciate, and the lamb sheekh, which just makes the platter complete, served with a lovely yoghurt and coconut sauce.
Then there is the vegetable platter that even the meat lover will love and appreciate. Prepared by chef Dharm Lal, this platter includes succulent grilled broccoli, mouth-watering vegetable samosa, which is a deep-fried patty stuffed with vegetables, and salt and pepper mushroom that are a little spicy but packed with flavour. This is served with mint and coriander sauce.
So for Restaurant Week, if you want to enjoy a real food experience, you should try Saffron that takes you beyond the meal.
