WESTERN BUREAU:

Robert Trotta of the Palmyra Foundation Jamaica Limited has a lot to celebrate these days.

He is looking at constructing the biggest integrated development incorporating a 'Las Vegas style' casino entertainment complex in the tourism capital of Montego Bay, tagged 'Celebration Jamaica'.

On Wednesday night, Trotta and his impressive advisory team hosted the media at a cocktail reception at the Iberostar Grand in Rose Hall, where, in addition to unveiling a sumptuous menu created by the culinary masters at the hotel, they said 'cheers' to a project that, once given the green light, would provide jobs to thousands of Jamaicans.

MAKE HISTORY

Expecting to make their way in the country's history books, Trotta says his project will bring Jamaica up to world-class standards in sustainable gaming operations.

In fact, the founder of Celebration Jamaica has drawn the likes of former Prime Minister P.J. Patterson, who is senior international counsel on the project; Canadian businessman Dennis Mills, who has been named committee chairman, Kronos' Michael McMorris, who is also a council member, and Edward McMullen Sr, a tourism, hospitality and gaming industry expert from California.

Their role, Trotta says, is to drive the project towards early success. "We have begun the journey of introducing a world-class casino facility in Montego Bay," boasted an elated Edward McMullen.

The product's sneak preview was attended by Shahine Robinson, opposition spokesperson on tourism; member of parliament for North West St James Horace Chang, and mayor of Montego Bay, Glendon Harris, who gave his commitment that he would do everything in his power to assist the project.
