One-day event scheduled for June 1 at The Chinese Benevolent Association

The one-day Liguanea Art Festival moves to a new location this year to The Chinese Benevolent Association (CBA) and will be held on Sunday, June 1.

June and Tony Wong of Liguanea Drug & Garden Centre, main sponsor of the festival, in a release said that the new location will offer participating artists similar ambience in the spacious and comfortable surroundings of the CBA, both indoors and outdoors.

Parking has been arranged across the road, on the Jamaica College grounds.

Approximately 90 of Jamaica's leading artists locally and in markets abroad will be exhibiting their collections of fine art paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, photography, and jewellery.

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Liguanea Art Festival has become the first choice for art lovers, art collectors, students and teachers of the visual arts, and thousands of Jamaicans, who look forward to meeting their favourite artists in person, visiting their booths, discussing their techniques, and making their purchases at excellent prices.

A souvenir catalogue book featuring all the artists at the art festival and their brief bios with additional editorial about art in Jamaica will be on sale at the Information booth. Thereafter, the catalogue will be available at Liguanea Drug & Garden Centre.

Surprises in store

The organisers said that there will be some new and pleasant surprises for those who plan to attend.

Admission to the Liguanea Art Festival is free, and the organisers are assuring adequate security.

The event is fully endorsed by the Jamaica Tourist Board, The Ministry of Culture, JAMPRO, and The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission.

Sponsors include Liguanea Drug & Garden Centre, CVM TV, The Gleaner Company, Jamaica National Building Society, General Food Supermarket, Cari-Med, RJR Group, Best Dressed Chicken, Facey Commodity, First Global Bank, Grace Kennedy, H.D.
