Sao Paulo in Brazil is known for being a business district, but the city is also popular for its buildings and historical sites.

With more than 11 million people living in the city, Sao Paulo has something for everyone in nightlife, great cuisine and entertainment. It is also a hub for economics, science, politics and culture. There are also persons of Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, German, African, Arabic, and Jewish descent.

Even a short trip to the city will give visitors a full taste of life in Sao Paulo.

At the very centre of the city is the massive Catedral Da Sé. The history of this cathedral goes back to 1589 when it was decided that a main church would be built in the small village of Sao Paulo. However, the current cathedral was built on the same site in 1913.

The market

Another popular spot close by in downtown Sao Paulo is the Municipal market where persons can find a wide range of items, including restaurants, jewellery, souvenirs, meats, seafood, nuts, spices, wines, fruits, and even clothes.

Sao Paulo is also strong on culture and is known for having major theatres and museums like the Municipal Theatre, MASP, Pateo Do Collegio E Museu Anchieta, Rock Gallery, Football Museum and Museum of Portuguese Language. Some of the other major sites are Ibirapuera Park, Badeiras Monument, Oscar Friere Street, Liberdade and Avenue Paulista.

There are also stadiums such as Arena Corinthians, Pacaembu Stadium, Morumbi Stadium, Caninde Stadium and Allianz Park that host many football games in the country that is known for its beautiful style of play.

A few sore points in the city, however, include the graffiti, excessive traffic, flooding in some areas, and crime.
