Policeman killed another injured

A police constable who was a member of a police patrol in Cassava Piece, St. Andrew was reportedly shot and killed this morning.
Investigators are to release the name of the policeman who was assigned to the Mobile Reserve.
It is alleged that his death may be linked to a shooting incident in the community last night, which left one man dead.
Alton Burgess, 27, of Barry Street, downtown Kingston, was shot dead by a gunman at Glen Drive in Cassava Piece.
It is reported that Burgess was standing on the roadway talking to a relative around 7.30 p.m. when he was approached by a gunman, who opened fire hitting him, before escaping.
Burgess was pronounced dead at hospital.
Another policeman was shot on the Mandela Highway this morning while on patrol.
It is reported that he was not seriously injured.
