The Labour Minister, Pearnel Charles has instructed the management of the St. Ann Bauxite Company and the union representing employees at the company to resume wage talk.
The decision was taken yesterday during a meeting at the labour ministry with representatives of the University and Allied Workers Union, UAWU and the company’s management.
Over 400 of the unionised workers at the company have been involved in industrial action since Wednesday night.
The president of the UAWU, Lambert Brown said the workers are upset over the failure of the company to offer a satisfactory wage package during a meeting on Tuesday.
Mr. Charles added he expects an agreement to be reached between the parties without further disruptions.
