Cabinet approves computers for JCF

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is to receive several pieces of computer and other communication equipment.
Cabinet approved the purchase of the equipment which is to cost just over $15 million.
In its submission to the Cabinet the JCF said one of its priorities is to equip each police station with at least one computer system by December.
As a result, the JCF is acquiring 145 desktop computers, 20 facsimile machines, 91 printers, and six multimedia projectors.
The computers are to function as stand-alones at the designated stations until a networked system is established in the JCF.
The contract to supply the equipment has been awarded to SSP APTEC Limited.
The JCF says a priority listing of police stations to which the computers will be distributed has been established and proper security and power supply are in place for the installation of the equipment.
