UWI retroduce taxi policy
The University of the West Indies (UWI) said it would reintroduce its taxi policy today.
Under the new policy only authorised taxis will be allowed to offer service on the campus.
The university said the taxis, which will be authorised to carry out service on the campus, are the Corporate Area taxi association, JUTA and a selected number of identified taxis.
These include Express Taxi Service, Candy Cab Limited, Jamaica Taxi Service and the Jamaica Association of Hackney Carriers.
Staff, students and visitors to the campus using other taxis will not be allowed access beyond the main gates.
The university said persons wishing to go beyond the main gates will have to make alternate arrangements for transportation from the gates to the their destination on campus.
