RADA distributes seeds for Labour Day

The Rural Agriculture Development Authority (RADA) has already started the distribution of seeds and seedlings ahead of Friday’s Labour Day projects.



This coincides with the government’s Eat Jamaica, Grow Jamaica campaign, which was announced by Agriculture Minister, Dr. Cristopher Tufton during his budget presentation in April.



Under the programme, 200,000 packs of vegetable seeds are to be distributed to grades 8 to 11 students in all high schools.



30,000 fruit tree seedlings are also to be distributed to the Buff Bay High School in Portland as part of the school’s garden expansion project.



Director of Production and Special Projects at RADA, Winston Simpson, said 15 seedlings would also be distributed to 3 schools in each constituency as selected by each Member of Parliament.



He said individuals wishing to participate in the projects could also go to the Social Development Commission in each parish to collect their seeds.
