Clarendon police gear up to tackle crime
The police in Clarendon said they would be making maximum use of their resources as they continue to deal with increased murders across the parish.
Three persons were killed in the parish over the weekend bringing the number of murders since the start of the year to more than 60.
The police said they have now increased police presence in most of the troubled areas in the parish, especially in May Pen where reprisal killings are likely.
Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of operations, Patrick Murdock, said while there are resource constraints, the police are committed to maintaining a strong presence across the parish.
DSP Murdock said the police are unable to identify a motive for several of the murders committed.
He said the police are looking at several strategies, which they believe can help in apprehending criminals.
He said they are also seeking to reduce the number of cases assigned to investigators, so they will have more time to focus on each case.
