Rural bus operators could know by next week how much more they will be allowed to charge commuters.

The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) has made its recommendation that the increase is close to the 36 percent, which was earlier proposed for taxi operators.

Transport Minister Mike Henry who received the OUR’s recommendation yesterday is expected to meet with representatives of the Transport Authority ahead of a cabinet submission on Monday.

Earlier this month, the Transport Ministry announced a 25 percent increase for taxi operators, which took effect on May 10.
