Food vendor killed

A Food Vendor of Junction, St Elizabeth was murdered by unknown assailants at Portland Cottage in Clarendon shortly after 6 p.m. yesterday.



His assistant also of St Elizabeth was also shot and is hospitalised.



The dead man has been identified as Cypryan Dight, 47.



According to Police reports, Dight and another man was in the Portland Cottage Community selling Agricultural produce when they stopped at a cook shop to buy food.



Shortly after he ordered the food a Toyato RAV4 drove up with two men.



One of the men reportedly alighted and proceeded to the cook shop asking who drove the pick up with the produce before opening fire.



Dight was hit several times while the other vendor was hit in the hand.



The Police have ruled out robbery as the motive.



Yesterday’s killing brings the murder figure for Clarendon to 72.
