NWA to visit damaged roads in St. Mary
A team from the National Works Agency (NWA) is today expected to visit several roads in St. Mary that have been damaged by recent heavy rains.
Up to late last night, the Border to Guffy Gully main road was since impassable after a section of the road collapsed last week.
Communications Manager at the NWA, Steven Shaw, said the team would be carrying out assessment on the damaged roads with a view to begin rehabilitation work soon.
He said the heavy rains have resulted in several roads being reduced to single lane traffic.
Mr. Shaw said work teams from the NWA have been trying to clear some of the roads but that bad weather has been affecting their efforts.
The affected roads include the Islington to Port Maria main road, Little Bay to Spring Head, Trinity to Fontabelle, Bollards Valley to Hampstead and Sandside to Palmento Grove.
The road between Buff Bay and Balcares, which was blocked by fallen trees, has been reduced to single lane traffic.
The main road between Hope Bay and Rio Grande Bridge in Portland, which was impassable yesterday, has since been cleared.
