JPS upgrade facilities for hurricane season

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) said it has spent millions of dollars to upgrade its facilities in preparation for any disasters that might occur this Hurricane Season.

Corporate Communications Officer, Ruthlyn Johnson, said the company has replaced some equipment and set up emergency systems to facilitate quick recovery and minimise damage in the event of a disaster.

She said despite these measures the lack of roads and general vegetation in some areas makes it difficult to restore power after a disaster.

Mrs. Johnson said the JPSCO would respond to incidents that are reported to the company.
