President of the Jamaica Manufacturers Association (JMA), Omar Azan is supporting the private sector’s call for more urgent measures to tackle crime.

The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) is insisting that the government implement several legislative changes in a bid to suppress criminal activities.

Mr. Azan said enough is not being done to curb the country’s soaring crime rate.

He said of major concern are the recent attacks and threats against members of the business community.

Mr. Azan said lack of employment is one of the leading factors that contribute to the increase in crimes.

Yesterday, The Jamaica Employers’ Federation and the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce also expressed concern about criminal acts, which target members in public office.
