Samuda re-elected as Chamber of Commerce president
Milton Samuda, attorney at law, was unanimously re-elected as president of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) during the organisation’s annual general meeting Tuesday.
Before his re-election, Samuda, managing partner of Samuda & Johnson, reminded participants that the JCC could be proud of some notable achievements, “lest we forget”.
Among the achievements he cited were the development assistance centre – a collaboration with United States Agency for International Development and the Jamaican government – and the establishment of a foreign trade advisory committee with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.
He also noted the JCC’s assistance in moral and practical support for the security forces; support for the commissioner of police in his drive to rid the force of corrupt personnel and of the abuse of human rights; the establishment of the quarterly consumer and business confidence indices, and the setting up of two new bus parks in downtown Kingston.
At the meeting, Francis Kennedy and Warren McDonald were returned as first and second vice president respectively, with P.B. Scott and Cathrine Kennedy as third and fourth vice president.
Wilbert Spence of KPMG was elected honorary treasurer.
