New country manager for Microsoft Jamaica
Microsoft has announced the appointment of Marcelle Smart, former business systems manager at GraceKennedy, as country manager for its operations in Jamaica.
Smart has 18 years of ICT and business experience working in the private sector in Jamaica, according to a release from Microsoft.
Most recently she was business systems manager for GraceKennedy Limited, a position she held for the last three years.
There, she led the strategic design and operational implementation of ICT for GK Foods Division and served as deputy chairperson, GK BizTech Council for the GraceKennedy Group.
She previously worked for 10 years in the financial and consulting sectors.
“My first order of business is to meet with our customers, partners and key stakeholders to share how Microsoft’s technology can improve their business operations and drive efficiency,” said Smart.
“I will also be aligning the local offerings so as to play a key role in the realization of Vision 2030 for Jamaica,” she added.
Microsoft Jamaica opened its offices 12 years ago and since then has committed to providing technology to local businesses, consumers and partners.
More than one million people use Microsoft products in the country, and approximately 1,200 partners provide and distribute solutions on the company’s platform.
