NWC corporate area water woes
The National Water Commission (NWC) is promising that water supplies should be restored to some corporate area communities by the latest tomorrow.
Several communities in a wide cross section of the corporate area were left without water over the weekend due to what the Commission said was a number of problems with some major pipelines.
The commission said four of its largest and most critical water supply systems which serve a wide cross-section of the corporate area were severely affected.
NWC Corporate Communications Manager, Charles Buchanan said the problems include high turbidity levels which resulted in reduced treatment and output at the Hope Filter Plant and the Constant Spring Treatment Plant.
There were also electrical and mechanical problems at the Forest Hills Deepwell System and its series of relift pumping stations into Red Hills and adjoining areas.
In addition there is a dislocated pipeline in the Barbican/Russell Heights community as well as landslides and heavy rainfall which have impeded access to some areas
