Govt to expedite banana payments

The government has indicated that its moving to expedite the payment process to workers in the banana industry whose positions have been made redundant.



Agriculture Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said the government will work with the Jamaica Producers Group Limited to ensure that banana farmers and workers are paid in the shortest possible time.



A series of meetings will be held with all stakeholders in the banana industry to discuss the current situation in an attempt to develop an approach for the future.
