The St. Andrew North police said they are still awaiting the results of DNA tests to confirm whether the decomposed body found in Belevedere, St. Andrew yesterday, was that of 11 year old Ananda Dean.

Ananda was reported missing over a week ago.

Yesterday morning, residents of the community reportedly stumbled on the body of a child, after they went to investigate the source of an awful odour they said had been plaguing them for over a week.

Detective Inspector Altemorth Campbell, of the St. Andrew North Police Division, said although Ananda’s shoe, underwear and school uniform were identified by relatives, the police are still awaiting further tests results.

He said he has instructed that another post mortem be done to confirm the cause of death as well as a DNA and other pathological tests.

Inspector Campbell said a DNA test should be conducted later today.

Ananda, a sixth grade student at Swallowfied Primary and Junior High was reported missing after she did not return from school on Wednesday September 15.

Books belonging to her were found in Pembroke Hall, a day after she was reported missing.
