Kingston Wharves workers resume duties

Officers of the National Workers Union say they will be visiting the Kingston Wharves this morning to ensure that all workers resume normal activities.

President emeritus of the National Workers Union (NWU), Clive Dobson, says the officers will make themselves available to instruct the workers for a full resumption.

He says the union will be ensuring none of the employees are prevented from resuming work by the management of the Wharves.

Labour Minister Pearnel Charles says the NWU and the management seem to have a different interpretation of the resumption order issued by the Industrial Dispute Tribunal.

The workers, who have been off the job since Thursday, are protesting the decision by management to lay-off almost 30 of their colleagues.
