Clarendon water shortage

The Mayor of May Pen, Milton Brown said the rate of infrastructure development in the parish is outstripping the availability of water.

He said this is likely to impact the 6,000 houses that are to be constructed in Clarendon over the next five years.

Mr. Brown said it could also affect the Vernamfield development project.

Under the project, an airport is to be constructed in southern Clarendon.

According to Mayor Brown, the problem is compounded because there is no proper development plan for the parish.

The mayor said as a result of the difficulty, the Clarendon Parish Council has changed the system of approval for residential constructions.

Mayor Brown said the Council is now encouraging new homeowners to build storage tanks when making houses.
