Graham Close … closed

The National Works Agency, NWA says it will be closing the Graham Close roadway in St Andrew as of today.

The NWA says the roadway will be closed until further notice.

It says continued usage of the roadway is unsafe for motorists near to the site of a retaining wall, which is being constructed at a breakaway along the roadway.

The works agency says the roadway broke away during the passage of Tropical Storm Gustav in August.

According to the NWA, continuous rainfall during the last two days has resulted in a further deterioration and erosion along the corridor.

The NWA says a contract of $16.2 million has already been awarded to Chin’s Construction Company to undertake work on the roadway.

The work is expected to be completed within three months.

The Graham Close roadway connects Graham Heights and Cherry Drive in Cherry Gardens.
