US Embassy closed today

The United States Embassy in Kingston will be closed today for Thanksgiving Day, which is a public holiday in the United States.



The Consular Section, Information Resource Centre, USAID, U.S. Peace Corps offices, the U.S. Consular Agency in Montego Bay and the U.S. Consular Agency in the Cayman Islands will also be closed.



The embassy and its affiliated offices will reopen for business as usual tomorrow.



The US embassy is reporting that up to Tuesday of this week, 4,056 appointments for visa interviews were made using its new visa appointment system.



The new service became operational last week Wednesday.



2,436 of these appointments were made through telephone calls to the pay-for-service agents, and 1,620 made on the pay-for-service, self-service website.
