The St. Catherine North police have admitted that poor police tactics were used in escorting residents out of the Gravel Heights community in St. Catherine.
More than 200 residents were forced to flee their houses on Sunday, while the police watched.
The residents were reportedly threatened by armed thugs, who have accused them of being informers.
The commanding officer for the St Catherine North Police, Superintendent Assan Thompson, said a different approach should have been used.
Superintendent Thompson said the division has put strategies in place to ensure the safe return of the residents to their community.
He said the police are still to locate the two men who are said to be behind the threats.
