NAJ finance meeting

Published:Wednesday | December 10, 2008 | 10:09 AM

The Socio Economic and Negotiating Team at the Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) is to meet with representatives of the finance ministry today.

The meeting follows an ultimatum issued by the NAJ on the weekend to the finance ministry for the implementation of the reclassification exercise.

The ultimatum expired Monday at 1:00 p.m.

President of the NAJ, Edith Allwood-Anderson says the nurses are upset with the extended period it is taking the ministry to implement the reclassification exercise.

The reclassification exercise should have been implemented on July 1, last year.

Mrs. Allwood-Anderson says the nurses who have been very patient have become restive and are no longer prepared to continue waiting on the ministry.

She says she is hoping the issue will be resolved during today’s meeting, which is set for 9:00 a.m.
