The two men who were on Sunday caught transporting ganja hidden in air conditioning units are to return to court on February 17 next year.

Rolin Shakespeare, 34, and Clifton Gayle, 48, were each granted bail in sum of $250,000 in Sav-la-mar Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

As a condition of their bail, the men are to report to the Little London Police Station every Wednesday and their travel documents have been seized.

Shakespeare and Gayle who are both from Spring Garden, Westmoreland were arrested on Sunday after the police discovered 50 pounds of ganja in the a/c units, they were transporting.

The police had stopped them during a spot check because they had got a tip.

In court yesterday, the men said they were transporting the a/c units to Kingston.

They also said they were not aware of that the weed had been stashed in the compressor chambers of the units.

Gayle said he was being paid $15,000 to take the units to Kingston.

He said because his car was not working he decided to split the money with Shakespeare who willingly accepted to help.

However, Shakespeare was given back his car, which was seized during the operation.

Shakespeare and Gayle are on charges of dealing in and taking steps to export ganja.
