St. Kitts meets for national consultation on crime

Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas is today convening a national consultation on crime.
The St Kitts and Nevis government is trying to find ways to deal with the increase in crime in the twin island nation.
So far this year, 22 people have been killed in St. Kitts and Nevis compared with 17 in 2007.
Church leaders, representatives of non-governmental organisations, students, lawyers and private sector interests are expected to attend the consultation.
The Government has received a comprehensive report on the root causes of crime from a top United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) official.
