St Kitts and Nevis tackle crime

The government in St. Kitts and Nevis said it would be forming a task force to implement security measures ironed out at a forum on crime, which took place last Friday.
The national dialogue on crime involved government, opposition, security experts and nationals concerned about the country\'s spiraling murder rate.
The toll now stands at 23, which is unprecedented in the federation.
Prime Minister Denzil Douglas said that among some of the steps that will be taken is the strengthening the police force and formulating a strategy to tackle criminal gangs.
He said the government is also looking at coming up with jobs and other alternatives for youths who are out of school and out of work.
