A man who is said to be of unsound mind and who chopped and injured three people including two children in Clarendon earlier this week is expected in court today.

He is 55-year-old David Nugent of Portland Cottage in the parish.

Nugent is charged with three counts of wounding with intent.

He is to appear in the Lionel Town Resident Magistrate’s court.

The police had earlier reported that on Monday, the two children, 13-year-old Dwayne Wilson and his 11-year-old sister Samantha were attacked and chopped by Nugent at a standpipe in the community.

Nugent also chopped another man who was on his way to work.

Residents say Nugent has a mental illness and was receiving treatment at the Lionel Town hospital.

They say he stopped taking his medication some time ago.
