Ballard’s River Main Road Impassable
The Ballard’s River main road in northern Clarendon is now impassable.
The National Works Agency, NWA, says a section of the roadway collapsed late yesterday afternoon, after a cement truck drove on an area where a major breakaway had occurred during the passage of Hurricane Dean last year.
Motorists travelling from Crooked River or Frankfield towards May Pen are being asked to travel to Kellits, Colonel Ridge then on to Pennants.
Those traveling towards May Pen from Frankfield can go to Thompson Town, Four Paths then on to May Pen or Thompson Town, Summerfield then on to May Pen.
The NWA says workmen are now at the Ballard’s River main road constructing a detour.
The Agency says the roadwork should be completed by tomorrow afternoon.
In the meantime, the NWA is advising motorists and pedestrians to be guided by posted warning signs and the instructions of flagmen.
