Government makes funeral arrangements for accident victims

Government will be underwriting the costs of the funerals of the fourteen persons killed in last weekend’s motor vehicle crash in Portland.



Minister without portfolio in the office of the Prime Minister, Daryl Vaz says the decision forms part of the assistance the Prime Minister pledged to the families of the deceased.



Late yesterday the police released the official list of the dead.



They include 51-year-old Winston Taylor, 20-year-old Faston Telfer, 39-year-old Aaron Lewis, 41-year-old Beverly Johnson, 68-year-old Fay Dillon, 49-year-old Carmen Leslie, Joyce Scott, 49-year-old Lebert Rogers, and 36-year-old Leroy Deans.



The others are, 49-year-old Beverly McDonald, 33-year-old Lassandra Dyce, 59-year-old Althea Anderson, 76-year-old Alrita Fuller and 11 year-old Renaldo Palmer.



Five other person injured in the accident are reportedly still in hospital in serious but stable condition.
