The Dental Auxillary School in St Andrew has received support for its schools dental programme from the National Health Fund (NHF).
The NHF has approved a grant of $4 million for the purchase of a new bus to transport students from early childhood institutions, primary and secondary schools for dental care.
The students are usually examined and treated by dental students in training.
Director of the dental training institution, Dr. Theon Jones says the current vehicle has become unreliable resulting in a setback for the school’s training programme.
The Dental Auxillary School which is the only one of its kind in the Caribbean offers training for dental nurses, dental assistants, hygenists and dental laboratory technologists.
