Ganja seized - arrests to follow

Investigators from the Narcotics Police and Operation Kingfish say they are expecting to make arrests soon following the seizure of nearly 500 kilograms of ganja on the weekend.



The seizure was made in Freetown, Clarendon on Saturday.



The police say during a search of premises in the community, 24 bags and five buckets containing the drug were found.



Meanwhile, two men were arrested and charged for breaching the Dangerous Drugs Act in St. Catherine on Saturday.



They are taxi operator, Albert Forbes, 50 of Anchovy and Dane Murray, 50 of Reading in St. James who are charged with possession of, dealing in and trafficking ganja.



The men were held during a special operation in Old Harbour, St. Catherine.



The police say about 8 o’ clock Saturday night, two vehicles driven by Forbes and Murray were stopped and searched and ganja weighing approximately 72 kilograms found.
